Backpacking Stoves & Cooking : Backpacking Cooking Pot Care

You have got to take care of your gear and
when you are using your cook pots if you have aluminum pots with Teflon you are not going
to take your stainless steel spoon and scrape through that so remember use some plastic
utensils. They sell plastics that will break but if you get a carbonate resin plastic it
is going to be very strong and sturdy so when you are in there you are not scraping up your
pots. If you use your pots over a camp fire what you will find is you get black soot all
over the bottom of your pots. How do you take care of that you rub a little soap over the
bottom of your pots so that the blackness does not stay there and you can wash that
off. Remember in your pot selection, aluminum pots are going to be relatively easy to dent
so you may want to opt to something a little stronger like anodized aluminum or titanium.
If you have any questions give your local outfitter a holler.
