Hammock Gear Burrow 20 Topquilt (English subtitles)

In addition to swapping out the sleeping pad for an underquilt I have also swapped out the sleeping bag for a topquilt This is a topquilt from Hammock Gear called Burrow It is rated to 20 degrees Farenheit, or -6 degrees Celcius I have slept in this down to -4 Celsius (7 Farenheit), not toasty warm but I slept reasonably well most of the night. As mentioned, this is a 20 degree topquilt from Hammock Gear and this is a 20 degree underquilt from Warbonnet First impression is that the Warbonnet quilt feels better insulated and is of higher quality The topquilt from Hammock Gear, if I hold it up towards the light I can see light shining through It appears to be thinner (than the Warbonnet) but the insulation feels extremely effective. It’s fascinating even how thin it is The foot box is sown together up to knee hight There are also a few hooks to strap the topquilt to a sleeping pad which I don’t use At the head end there are buttons to snap the ends together Sorry about the poor filming… And you can draw the elastic cord tight around your neck to create an airtight pocket around you The ends tuck in underneath your sholders You would think cold air easily could enter from the sides but it doesn’t I must say I am very impressed with both these quilts The Americans have used quilts for a long time We Europeans have never really understood the concept and have been sceptical but after having tried it myself I fully understand! You save some weight not having a back piece Because it contains down it has an incredible insulating capacity And most importantly, it is much easier to get in and out of the topquilt instead of having to wiggle your way into a sleeping bag This is a super easy setup I can highly recommend this setup I am very happy with both the hammock from Warbonnet a Ridgerunner a socalled “bridge hammock” and the underquilt, a Warbonnet Lynx 20 degrees Farenheit and the topquilt, a Burrow from Hammock Gear also 20 degrees Farenheit
