Julie & Russell’s New School Backpack Haul & GIVEAWAY

Julie & Russell’s New School Backpack Haul & GIVEAWAY

– [Shari] Are you guys
excited for this school year? – Yes – [Shari] What grade
are you both going into? – Second. – Fifth. – [Shari] You guys are getting so old! Show us what you got, I wanna
see both of your first things. Notebook, that’s cool! – I like these because of the sound. (screeching) If I hear someone else blowing their nose, I honestly don’t care. I’m like, “hey, it happens to everyone.” But, then it’s me I’m
like, everyone’s listening. (car screeching and revving) What are we doing today? – What’s in our backpack and lunch box? – [Shari] Yes, are you guys
excited for this school year? Yes. What grade are you both
going into, Russell? – Second. – [Shari] And Julie? – Fifth. – [Shari] How am I getting so old? We started with the
lunchboxes for Abby and Eve, so why don’t we start
with your lunchboxes. Show us what you got. – So, I have this water bottle. – [Shari] Cute. – I wanna get stickers for it. – [Shari] Like mine? Let us see the outside too. Julie, those are my favorite colors! How did you know? I might have to steal it. – It has my name on the back so you can’t. (sigh) – [Shari] So, why did you
get one with the strap? – I didn’t know it had the strap cause it was on the inside
and I never opened it. – [Shari] Uh-huh, so are you going to carry it around with you during the day, keep it in your backpack, hang it up? – Probably gonna hang it up. – [Shari] Russell, what did you get? (water bottle clank) Frick, those are new stairs,
you just scratched it! That’s not funny! – Oops. – [Shari] You just scratched it! It’s not very bad but,
Russell, these are brand new! – Sorry. – [Shari] Show us your lunchbox. – So, I got this water bottle and– – [Shari] What’s the water bottle? Do you know what it is? Do you know that’s a
Harry Potter water bottle? – No. – [Shari] You didn’t know? Yeah, those are all the houses. So, the red is Griffindor,
the green is Sytherin. Oh! That’s cool. – [Shari] So, why did you
get a new water bottle? You already have one that you literally just
got for your birthday. – Oh, so now I have three water bottles. (laughter) – [Shari] Julie, show us the inside. – I only have one thing,
it’s my container. – [Shari] Yep, I was telling everyone how we got our own
colors, so what’s yours? – Turquoise. – [Shari] To match your pretty lunch– that’s honestly, – I didn’t know that! – [Shari] It’s called turquoise. I think that is honestly
the cutest lunchbox. Oh, and it matches your shirt! (twinkle) That’s the cutest lunchbox I’ve ever seen. Is turquoise your favorite color? – No, it’s purple, black,
blue, and turquoise. – [Shari] Hey, Russell, what’s in yours? – Definitely nothing. – [Shari] What’s your color though? Why don’t you tell us
all what color you got? – Red. – [Shari] Red, you’re
turquoise, Abby’s yellow? – No, Abby’s dark blue. – [Shari] You guys will have to pack really big lunches to be able
to fill the lunchbox, huh? By the way, do you guys see my toe? I’m not even gonna zoom
in cause it’s kinda gross. I dropped my laptop on
it, it was really funny. I wanna see your backpack. I want you guys to both try to pronounce the names of these bags. How do you think you say that? – Fjall-raven Kan-key. – [Shari] Russell, what do you think? – F-jall r-aven Kanken. – [Shari] So we all got the
same backpack, different colors. The four older kids got
the larger sizes, right? Cause the little kids
don’t need as much room. Julie, what is all over your backpack? – I don’t know, they’re
just little stuffed animals that you put on your backpack. – [Shari] You have four. Where did you get those? – So, these two my friend
got this for my birthday in second grade, she got this
one for my birthday last year, then, I got this at Reim’s, and then my friend gave
this to me last year. – [Shari] Do they all have names? – Yeah, this one is Luna, or something. This one’s Franky, but
it’s spelled with a Y and this one’s Flush, and Rainbow. – [Shari] Cool! You got the black one? Russell, you got the bright orange. What was the one that
you originally wanted? You wanted the yellow one, right? – No, I wanted the black
one with the pockets. – [Shari] There’s a fake
website going around selling these backpacks. We thought it was for real,
Russell picked a backpack off of that site, turned
out it was a scam! So, no one got those colors. – I picked a purple one on that. – [Shari] Yeah, but it’s
okay, we got these ones. Let’s take turns, I
want you all to show me one thing at a time. Oh, what’s this? – [Julie] Yeah, I’ve kept
that for like a year. – [Shari] And where’d we get those? – Delta. – [Shari] On our airplane. That’s cool Julie that
you’re putting pins on it. Do you know a lot of people sew patches and stuff onto their Fjallraven backpacks? First thing, I wanna see
both of your first things. Notebook, that’s cool, so
what made you pick that one and not like one that had like a superhero on it or something? – Well, there was a superhero one, except I didn’t wanna change it again. – [Shari] Oh, again, what does that mean? – Well, I chose one and then I
wanted to choose another one, and then I chose this
one, and I didn’t want to choose another one! – [Shari] Okay. Julie, what’s the first thing in your bag? (gasp) That was smart, I think you’re
the only one who got those! – Yeah, my teacher said if
you’re using more than 3 tissues in class, then you need
to bring your own, so. – [Shari] That is a good– okay, what? – Nothing. – [Shari] K, go away, we’re filming. (boing) That’s a good rule
though, especially for me during allergy season
or when you get colds. I always hate to be that person that gets up in the
middle of the classroom, walks to the front and gets a tissue, and then I hate to be the one
that’s like blowing my nose. I try really hard not to blow too loud because I think it’s just gross for me. Like, if I hear someone
else blowing their nose, I honestly don’t care, I’m like, “hey, it happens to everyone.” But then it’s me and I’m like” (deep breathing) everyone’s listening. Are you self conscious
when you blow your nose? – Yeah. – Yes, very much. – [Shari] Russell, is it your turn? What, did you lock yours? – No. – [Shari] Okay, good because me and Eve spent 5 minutes trying to open it. Huh, so you don’t want
the mechanical pencils, you like these kind? – Yeah, I hardly just sharpened every one. – [Shari] I honestly
really like wooden pencils. If they didn’t get dull
so fast, I would use them. I like the smell and how they write. – [Russell] Scissors, two erasers, pencil sharpener, glue, the eraser pens. – [Shari] Cool! – I like the scissors the most. – [Shari] Do you use scissors in school? – Mm-hmm, a lot. – [Shari] Do you, Julie? – Mm-hmm. – [Shari] Julie, your turn. Oh, that’s the same one Eve got! – I like these because of the sounds. (screeching) – [Shari] Dude, how are you
and Eve gonna tell yours apart? – Because mine has this stuff in it. Well, I have scissors,
highlighters for scriptures, erasable pens, regular pens, erasers. – [Shari] Why do you need Expo markers? – Cause that’s a requirement. – [Shari] It is? So should we have gotten them for Russell? – I don’t know. – [Shari] How do you
know it’s a requirement? – Because it was a requirement last year and you said to just get
anything that’s in last year’s. – [Shari] See, I don’t remember. They usually send out school supply lists. They didn’t send one out this year so we didn’t really know what to get. But you are smart! (electric buzzing) – [Julie] Lead, and then Post-It notes. – [Shari] Purple Post-It notes. What pencils did you get? Oh, you don’t keep them
in your pencil case? – No. – [Shari] Oh, okay, we’ll have to see what that means later. Russell, what else did you get? – Nothing. – [Shari] That was all you got?! – Yeah, cause I couldn’t really fit everything in here and the water bottle. – [Shari] Well you were very
humble with what you got. You didn’t get more than what you needed, and you’ll probably need more
when the school year starts. But, we didn’t know what
we were supposed to get. So, I think you’re good. Julie, so now it’s just you
to show us what you got. – Okay, so, I got these. – [Shari] Those are like
the holiest of pencils. – Everyone uses these. – [Shari] No. – I felt so bad when I
didn’t have them last year so I made sure I got them this year. – [Shari] I found one on the floor at the end of the year,
last year at school. I kept it and I still have
it and it’s in my pencil box. – All of the ones that
I had were like broken. – [Shari] Uh-huh, so where
do you keep it in there? – I’m gonna take them
out in the school year, but, for now, I’ll just keep them in that back pocket, right there. – [Shari] Oh, so why are
they not in the pencil case? – Because I didn’t want
it to be overflowing. – [Shari] Oh, okay. – And then I got this textbook cover. – [Shari] Uh-huh, so you saw Abby’s and you’ll see mine in my video, but we all got different
ones so that we could tell. – I wish I could get one. – [Shari] They aren’t for
notebooks, they’re for textbooks. Okay, is that all you have? – I have one more thing. – [Shari] What is that? – It’s like something to like help you control your emotions. – [Shari] Oh, that’s cool! – And, like, write down your emotions. – [Shari] Uh-huh, I see
there’s a bookmark in there. – Oh, yeah. – [Shari] When you’re feeling overwhelmed, it can be really hard to tell what really matters from what doesn’t. Every little change,
choice, and embarrassment can make you feel like the sky is falling. The next time something
is weighing on your mind, come to this page and
answer these three questions to help you figure out whether
it’s worth worrying about. So, what are the questions? – Will this matter in 3 weeks from now? Will this matter 3 months from now? Will this matter 3 years from now? – [Shari] That’s really cool, Julie. So, are you going to
answer those questions if you get stressed? Good, and that’s something
everyone can answer cause everyone gets
stressed sometimes, huh? – And for me I get stressed a lot and I get mad a lot. – [Shari] And that’s okay,
it’s good that you realize it. I think that’s the first thing is realizing that you get mad and angrily. A lot of people in this family do. But, as you get older and
as you get more mature, and as you do things like that, answer questions for yourself,
then, it gets easier. We are also doing a giveaway. We are giving away two of
these Kanken backpacks. And, if you want to see what’s in them, you have to go watch my video of my backpack haul and giveaway video. To enter the giveaway, you have
